If you're looking for a kind, talented, reliable, and affordable makeup and hair professional, you really can't go wrong hiring Joey and her JBeautique team! Joey and May provided hair & makeup services for my October 2016 wedding, which included four bridesmaids and myself plus my mum. I had a fairly small budget and she went above and beyond to keep to the number I proposed.

Initially, I just needed her to do makeup, but she offered to show me a hairstyle at my first trial and I really loved what she did - it was ethereal, flattering, and elegant. I was completely convinced, and booked her and her team for both hair & makeup. I did a second trial with Joey to try out a second makeup look, and she really listened to my concerns and preferences. It took a few tries to get the best look (I opted to go with a less pink blush and lip gloss and smaller fake eyelashes), but the whole process was enjoyable and low-stress. Both trials were at her home studio in Millbrae. I was slightly hesitant about the fake lashes Joey recommended, but the smaller, more wispy ones she used on the day-of were really beautiful in-person and in the photographs. I looked like myself on my wedding day, which is exactly what I wanted! Plus, she gave me a little touch-up kit which was very sweet and helped with post-ceremony touch-up.

Joey is the ultimate professional - she is prompt with email responses, arrived on-time on the day-of, and finished right on time - she was on top of it all. Such a gift for a busy bride! A few weeks before the wedding, she sent me a detailed timeline for the getting ready process - when she would arrive, who would be in charge of hair & makeup for each person, etc. I was slightly under the weather on the day-of, and Joey and May really helped create a calm and reassuring atmosphere. I am seriously so grateful that I found Joey for my wedding day hair and makeup. I went through at least 15 different bridal hair stylists/makeup artists and feel so lucky that I stumbled across Joey. I was looking for someone who was experienced with asian makeup and braided updo's and her portfolio had the best of both worlds. I knew that I didn't want to waste time (and money) going in for trials at multiple places so I wanted to be sure that whoever I picked for my trial would eventually be my makeup artist/hair stylist on the day of my wedding. After looking at her portfolio, and then reaching out to her with questions, I knew that she was everything I was looking for. Her price is pretty reasonable especially compared to other places in the SF area. I needed hair and makeup for myself, and then just hair for my 7 bridesmaids and then my mom, so I was able to get a package deal from her.

I really appreciated her patience during our trial(s). Her trial session for the package I bought included 1 makeup trial and 2 hair trials, but the first time I went in for the trial I accidentally got there later than anticipated so we only had time to do 1 hair trial. That was probably a blessing in disguise because turns out the hair I originally envisioned (and had all over my Pinterest) was not suitable for my face. I voiced my concern and she told me that it was not a problem, and we can schedule to get my second hair trial done on a later day, and in the meantime I can continue to look for hair inspiration photos. I did just that, and went in way more prepared for my second trial. I showed her the look that I was going for and she tried to replicate the photos, but then when I looked at the final updo, I didn't really like how it turned out (it looked kind of messy and unnatural, and didn't fit my face at all). I communicated my thoughts and she immediately understood and spent another 30 minutes adjusting the look until I was satisfied to say "okay, I'm comfortable with this being my wedding look."

On the morning of the wedding, I was super confident in Joey's makeup since I loved how it turned out during our trial, but I was a little nervous about my hair. Turns out, I didn't have to be because Joey went above and beyond and everything turned out so unbelievably perfect and amazing! She took all of my concerns during our trial session to heart and I was just so impressed and overwhelmingly pleased with how it turned out!

I definitely recommend Joey to anyone looking for bridal makeup and hair! She's super friendly, patient, and professional, and not to mention extremely experienced.

I am so happy that I found Joey for my wedding earlier this month! Everyone in the bridal party looked amazing!!! I found Joey on the preferred vendor list from the venue. She was the only makeup artist I scheduled a trial with and I knew she was the right person right away.
She was really easy to communicate with. The look she created at the trial session was really good, but I wanted some changes to fit my style more. Before the wedding day, I sent her emails communicating the look I like and she provided me with great professional opinions. She did 8 makeups in total and hair for me. Her makeup work is so detailed and clean. She used individual eyelashes on me, which worked out so well. No discomfort at all! What I love most about Joey is that I looked fabulous and very bridal, but I still look like myself. Max, the hairdresser also did a great job with the bridal party's updos.

I did find Joey and we scheduled a trial run on the day of our engagement shoot. It went so well! Not only was Joey patient and kind, but she delivered a look that I loved so much, I wanted the same style for the day of my wedding. My makeup felt light and looked very natural - essentially I "looked like myself," which is exactly what I was hoping for.

Joey not only went above and beyond by coming to my home to get ready ridiculously early in the morning, but she came afterwards to do touch-ups! I had a long gap in between my ceremony and the reception, and it was so nice of her to come pretty me up again. She also gave me great tips on how to remove my makeup at the end of the day.

I can't thank Joey and her team enough for all the great work they did with the hair and make up of myself, my bridesmaids, my mom, and my mother-in-law for my wedding day. Joey also did my hair and make up for my engagement photos and really did a wonderful job for those photos as well. Joey does a great job listening to what you want and makes tweaks accordingly. By the time the wedding came around, she had my complete trust. On my wedding day, Joey and her team were on-time and even finished beautifying everyone a little early, which was great since it gave my bridal party a chance for a breather before photos Even better, Joey stayed with me until the end of the wedding ceremony, which made a huge difference since it was fairly windy that day and we had been spent 2 hours before the ceremony taking outdoor photos. Since our ceremony was also outdoors, it was great that Joey was there to freshen my hair and make up before the reception.

Joey is a fantastic wedding hair and make-up artist. I was worried that makeup that looked good in pictures might not look as good in person, but these worries were completely alleviated with our trial session. The day of, she did a phenomenal job with my hair and makeup, and best of all, it stayed all day!
